Through the years, the city of Mayville has been blessed over and over again by the generosity of Ted and Grace Bachhuber. Their legacy of giving goes on, thanks to the Bachhuber Foundation.
In March of 2000 , it was announced publicly that the city of Mayville would be the recipient of an especially generous gift by the Foundation, an aquatic and fitness facility which is to be called the Ted and Grace Bachhuber Aquatic and Fitness Center. The facility will be referred to as the TAG CENTER. The Bachhuber Foundation will fund the entire project. Ground breaking will be mid-summer of 2001, with the Grand Opening in September of 2002.
The TAG CENTER will have 46,000 square feet of floor space, with the aquatic portion comprising approximately one forth of the facility. The beautiful indoor aquatic area will have a water-park like atmosphere. Included will be a 228 foot long tube slide, interactive play areas, three lap lanes, and a current channel. A state of the art advanced ozone water treatment system will require the use of less chlorine, thus improving both water and air quality in the pool area. There will be a fitness center equipped with cardiovascular and resistance machines, and a weight room. A gymnasium with a suspended walking and running track will also be included, along with two "party/meeting" rooms.
This facility will be constructed on 40 acres of land, offering a grand view of the countryside. The TAG CENTER will have an open, airy, expansive feel, with glass, wood, and fieldstone enhancing the hallways and adding a rustic touch to the exterior.
The TAG CENTER will offer a safe and comfortable environment for exercise regardless of weather conditions. It will be a facility for all age groups and will be affordable. After all, this gift was meant to enhance the quality of life for all. It will offer opportunities for recreation, education, fitness, and social interaction.
The TAG CENTER will truly be "A PLACE FOR EVERYONE."
